Design series Dee Dubs went out the last coupla gigs. Also didn't have access to my 602s so went with my old Trads. 17" Trad Thin crash over 17" DE crash (the Steve Jordan pairing) and my 22" Trad Light ride. Last time that's gonna happen. I'm cool with the Design drums but missed my 602s something fierce.

I made sure to tune every head judiciously to match the timbre note inside the shell, and drank a shot of unicorn tears in honor of The Wood Whisperer and The Professor. Then I slapped muffling all over them and stuck laundry in the kick drum, because I'm lazy and don't know how to tension drums properly. Ham-fisted my way through the gig and nobody was worse for wear.

Here's one for the marketing geniuses who suckered me into buying this thing against my will and better judgement.

I was just hitting the pad this morning, playing a Hebrew song that had really good drum beats.

I’m working roto-toms at an acoustic set with my friend. I used either my hands or brushes, no sticks. We’re at a church that’s been converted to a coffee house. The owners want to host acoustic jams so there’s a hammer dulcimer, accordion, organ, piano, banjo for anyone to pick up and have a go.

That's a good idea! I imagine cranked roto toms could almost be played like tri-tone bongos

Years ago used rototoms on someone's birthday during an impromptu jam session. They're great for that!
Tune biggest one down for a bass sound and you're set!

Tune the biggest one very low and attach a snare fan to the middle one, then you've got the "boom bap" of a cajon without being a box squatter

Brushes provide a nice "snare" sound, too.

The drums didn't make the shot, but this crowd was super loud. My first gig with this band (thought I was filling in, but they've asked me to join, so I did. Lol). St Patrick's Day Festival in Emerald Isle, NC. Very fun!

Was certain I'd already posted this pic yesterday haha. Still the kit that is provided in the rehearsal room, but i bring my own stands, throne, bass pedals and cymbals etc.
Brought the Paiste Sound Formula 20" Dry Ride i had lying around to experience if i really want i more pingy ride (opposed to my A-Zildjian 21" Sweet Ride). And i was not let down! Exactly want i needed: more definition and more volume. What bugs me though is that this cymbal is off-balance: the Sound Formula Logo is now on the top, but when i play the cymbal it starts to turn and the Paiste logo is facing up. Guess weight issue, but besides that it sounds great!

Also moved the ride more to the right above the floor tom and the 19" crash more or less in the spot were the ride used to be. Last few sessions my shoulder acted up and felt i was overreaching to play the ride. So i thought about lowering it and moving the stuff on the right side. It's in a way more comfortable position now and i don't feel my shoulder at all!
