(I believe) he's talking after 68 (when he went to Istanbul permitted by court etc order)

Looks an awful lot like the machine at chevys

I love how he says “the violence of manufacturing”

A. Zildjian sizzle, made in Constantinople, Turkey; or more like made in quick get away to Bucharest +/-? but, nonetheless, an "A" but not a (USA) "Avedis". (an Aram.
And the K's.
Gretsch catalog page from 1948/50 +/-
Ads catalog pages like this must have fried Avedis USA (and their lawyers) buns.

Still playing my 1986 Sabian 22" extra heavy ride and my 1986 Sabian 14" flat hats bought brand new in 1986. Went through many crashes over the years. Love both Sabian and Zildjian cymbals. I have both in my collection.

So..

zildjian-janissary.jpg

So what does their really old stuff look like? I see a lot of stuff from maybe as far back as the 1960's or 1950's. I want to see something from the 1600's!!
likely in the Turkish Military Museum
some snips in that video above)

Boy, that "Brand Journey" page is something else. K Cons came out in what? 1998-99. NOT 2002. It's all about "the family" even though no one in the family has designed a cymbal in over 20 years.

A Redesign
Keropes
Avedis Series
Special Dry Series

I can go on and on, but I'll just say-- it's a weird telling of events.

Zildjian knows what the release date of K Cons was.
1998 (I bought new in person 20 Light and 22 Light

2002 date refers Dancin Devils MTL TH MTH
Ad campaign and the name stuck with those introduced models.
that explains that

I first played K Cons in 1999. I know better than they do. Guessing there are zero surviving family members who give a crap. 1998? 2002? Whatevs.

(there's an entire orchestra in an old K Zildjian (they were built for orchestra) Sometimes you don't want that much but. It cannot be denied) amen

I assume there will be a 400th anniversary cymbal on the horizon also could be limited edition and damn pricey. The 100th birthday cymbal here in Australia retails for......wait for it..... $4,000AUD.

Loved that interview and listening to RZ speak about Sabian's philosophy and business model. I wonder to what degree that's changed since Andy Zildjian took over as President in 2013.

Sales Info: I assumed sales were greater than this but Zoominfo.com quotes Zildjian having 31.6 M revenue; Sabian 16.2 M :geek:

Zildjian email:
Ya familiar with Yamamoto? His You Tube page?

"The Zildjian Company is also proud to announce that Manabu Yamamoto has joined the company as a Cymbal Innovation Specialist. Manabu, a life-long percussionist, is the found of ArtCymbal where he makes bespoke hand hammered cymbals using the Tankin method of cymbal making. Manabu's cymbal making talent has been recognized by artists and cymbal experts around the world, due to his ability to develop beautiful and complex cymbals that looks and feel as good as they sound."

usually displays every era of old Ks in addition to his own handmade sometimes Brass cymbals..
also:
"Guy Licata will assume the new position of Manager of Core Business Innovation. In his role, Guy will be responsible for leading our R&D teams for both our cymbal and stick portfolios and will work directly with our Master Cymbal Maker, Joe Pallai. Guy is a long-time endorser of Zildjian Cymbals and Vic Firth Sticks and is an alumnus of The Drummers Collective in NYC where he was a student of Jojo Mayer and Jim Chapin and later went on to become a full-time faculty member. from the website:

CME has some 400th limited edition vault cymbals.
Sure - it only happens once, and they might become collector's items, but I don't think I'd pay that much for them.
I like Zildjians, but I'm not a fanatic about them.

Maybe they can celebrate their 400th Anniversary by stocking their own products! It looks like they are out of stock on about 75% of their sticks. They also don't seem to offer brushes any longer.

Why are they keeping their stick brand alive? Vic makes all of their sticks, why don't they just shutter the stick game and let Vic do it all? THe signature models (and other models) can be absorbed under Vic

As King of the world I've got a bone to pick with Zildjian. It took you....400 years..to come up with the 14 fat! hats!?....

I wonder what the oldest surviving Zildjian cymbal is, and where...?

1954: Avedis Zildjian USA Loses Court Case To Gretsch over Gretsch distributing/Advertising (etc) K. Zildjian Cymbals. Judge Rules (agrees with defendent (Gretsch) K. Zildjian is a different (separate) item from an Avedis Zildjian. Gretsch allowed to market K.Zildjian and an A. Avedis (Aram) . Avedis Zildjian loses case; tucks tail goes Home but doesn't let it go or forget it

1968: Once again Avedis tries to stop the importing advertising distribution of K Zildjian Made in Turkey cymbal by Suing again Fred Gretsch Co.
This time Judge decides in Avedis Favor.

Turkish "K. Zildjian works" given a 10 year (1968-1978 (the actual New Stamp era K by the way) to vacate cease and desist all operations in Turkey. Bob Zildjian (see Bob porch interview on yt) visits the Turkish works during this period, Sizing up the place, wiping the white glove on the desk looking around, observes the hand hammering, (knowing now, in 10 years what was or wasn't (they could have kept old K open but opened Meductic azco68 instead) to be, the fate of the place.

1978: K. Zildjian Turkey closes doors. Dissolved. Pink Slips for mehmet and all everybody . Snuffed. Avedis Zildjian Co. USA successful completes snuffing out old) K . Zildjian the hammering in the town goes silent..

Darn Avedis (est.1929 in America) Zildjian Co. Always seem to leave those ^ little tid bits out^
now you know- the rest of the story.

Zildjian: “We destroyed K. Zildjian so you'd be forced to buy our cymbals.”

I wouldn't be at all shocked if they were making smiths sign non-compete agreements...
