I've been enjoying playing my 60s Ludwigs again. I've been using the 13" tom instead of the 12" and I really like it.

I also replaced the original gull wing spurs with DW spurs so there's no more creep!

Man those are beautiful. Are they thermogloss finish?
Thanks, Jeremy! It's a modern version of it, yes. Ludwig calls the finish "Golden Slumbers". It's a poly-gloss lacquer over the maple, whereas the vintage thermogloss drums were sprayed with heated nitrocellulose lacquer.

Don't own a Ludwig kit yet but I hope to someday. Got me some great sounding Supraphonics though to share the love. :)

No Ludwig kit ….. Yet ! Maybe one day .
Just the 68 Supra and the 78 chrome-o-wood concert toms with the non riveted chrome wrap. Was gonna get rid of them but decided to hang onto them and try and add to the 10 and 12 , but finding the non riveted wrap version is a bit difficult .

My Ludwigs. I have posted these before. 1967's in Burgundy Sparkle, and early 70's Standards in rewrapped Bum Wrap Burgundy Oyster. Another drumset from my friend, Lee.

Nice set. I don't recall ever seeing a tom mount like that though. It looks effective, but initial setup might be a bit cumbersome.

Which set are you referring to? The tom mount on the Burgundy Sparkle set is a standard Ludwig double tom holder, but it has masking tape on it that's been on there for years. I don't use it. The tom holder on the Burgundy Oyster set is some brand that my friend used when he restored the set. I don't know what it is, but it works.
