Hope I'm not duplicating news... PAS has their premier edition of Drumset magazine now available. I saw copies for sale over at Drum Factory Direct. Go Pocket Queen!
Cool! I saw it in person at Columbus Pro Percussion back in December. I was so busy scarfing up my gear haul that I forgot to grab a copy, lol.Just saw one in person at a 'new' shop in L.A.* and brought it home. Excellent content, some names and info that's new to me. Will be interesting to see the direction of future issues. It's a quarterly magazine, so the next issue should be out shortly.
TBH, I haven't checked. Worth a try, for sure.Book stores no?
I'm so horny for a Modern Drummer..DRUM..DrumHead etc I'm ready to hold up a sign on street corners. Just to be able to drive home with a drum magazine in a Barnes&Noble bag in the passenger seat id be a kid at !.TBH, I haven't checked. Worth a try, for sure.
@Bozozoid, I guess you did see in my original post that you could solve all your personal issues by ordering one from Drum Factory Direct?PAS has their premier edition of Drumset magazine now available. I saw copies for sale over at Drum Factory Direct.
Taylor Gordon, better known as The Pocket Queen.Who's the girl on the front cover?
Interesting... "She's become enormously famous thanks to her Instagram account" and has an "army." Plus I learned her Zodiac sign!Taylor Gordon, better known as The Pocket Queen.
I would have expected more folks on here to be familiar with her. I did a thread search and not much came up. Here's a sample of one of her videos:Interesting... "She's become enormously famous thanks to her Instagram account" and has an "army." Plus I learned her Zodiac sign!
This could be just a sign of the times. Back in 1975(?) everybody knew the same people because we only had records, radio, and tv with maybe 9 major channels. Today, people can have millions of followers on the internet yet there are millions more who don’t know them at all because it’s the internet - we all get to choose what we pay attention to now, I guess. (Which is probably why I’m not big on internet “stars” either - I’m still a traditionalist when it comes to big artists)I bought the first issue and thought it was meh. I realize it's the first, but still. They should have gone for a bigger name on the cover. I never heard of that girl, and there was nothing in the article that made me want to check her out at all. Sorry.
When MD first appeared around '78, they had Buddy on the first issue cover.
1975...that's roughly the number of articles I've read on Buddy Rich. If this new magazine had a picture of Buddy, or Ringo, or Gadd, or Weckl, or even Peart on the cover, I would have have have passed it by. I love all of those guys, but there's not much more that can be said about them. This could be just a sign of the times. I had heard enough about her to know that Pocket Queen is kinda a deal. When I saw the cover, I was like, "Cool, I know who she is."So, I am guessing that they really wanted to differentiate themselves from the previous paper prints and they put someone on the cover that many do not expect to see.
