Happy 82nd Birthday to Jim Keltner!

Jim Keltner in regard to playing on Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door":

"a monumental session for me because it was such a touching song, it was the first time I actually cried when I was playing".

Now that's a player with not only soul but serious heart.

Happy Birthday Mr. Keltner.

had to

Gretsch Keltner.jpg

get real Gretsch in there somehow
"American drummer Jim Keltner in a London recording studio, June 1971. He is working on American blues singer and guitarist B.B. King's album 'B.B. King In London'. (Photo by Estate Of Keith Morris/Redferns)"
and maybe my favorite Keltner besides Josie is George Harrison's "Sue Me Sue You Blues"

I met Jim and Richie Hayward at NAMM in '07. I had known Richie for years by then. We took a picture together that I have somewhere. Richie was sitting on a drum throne and Jim and I were standing. Someone looked at it once and said, "That guy on the right is very short." I had to explain that he was sitting when the photo was taken.
