Yes, twelve German aerial kills flying P-38s and P-51s. He got four in Viet Nam, possibly five, but if he did, he hid the fifth kill, because it would have rotated him home, and he didn't want that. Robin was possibly the greatest fighter pilot this country ever produced.
Robin Olds was a freaking boss!
Not to mention...
His  mustache was a freaking boss.

Right, he grew that just to piss off the brass. He was such a rebel. I wanted to meet Robin and talk with him, but that never happened. Of course, I would have relished the opportunity to have met Manfred von Richtofen also, but that was WAY before my time.

If I could go back in time, I'd go to March 1944, as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Eighth AAF, flying P-47s with the 56th Fighter Group.

The Grand Alliance - volume lll of Winston Churchill's six volume anecdotal and chronological recollections of WWll . I acquired the whole set haphazardly and that's the order I'm reading them in .

I'm so excited for you to have the whole set!

Wow..........

Just tried to watch Oliver Stone's JFK as entertainment, and was driven totally insane halfway through, so now I'm reading Vincent Bugliosi's Reclaiming History, which utterly dismantles all the conspiracy theories forever, in brutal detail, with special attention to the one the movie is based on.

Hey Todd......we had to study JFK in English.

That movie was hard to see over and over again.

gonna start this up this weekend

architecture is my second love behind music...I was actually an Architecture major first when I went to college...then I realized how much math and science there was and I was out....and also that I really should have been doing music

Christianity and Liberalism by J. Gresham Machen, D.D.

Published in 1923, it now public domain and can be found in the interwebs.

Scary how humans are attracted to conspiracy bilge.
Sounds like a great book - seen a tv documentary that pointed out that if you wanted an efficient assassin - a literally insane, nationally famous communist would be the last choice.

At this point, the pandemic's got me mxing it up strangely. Here's one of the greatest reference books ever (complete with Pasta Glossary). There's also 62 pages of poorly-written rules along with all the charts and tables needed to play a really complicated solitaire wargame that I really like because I'm a total geek. Help me!View attachment 112921
We were "issued" that book in culinary school. I still like browsing its pages. I usually end up going down many rabbit holes when I do.
