Ride and two crash set ups

A set of Sabian AA
16/18 crash
20 rock ride- with a very nice bell.

18" Paiste 900 Crash (or 18" Paiste Rude Thin Crash)
19" Paiste 900 Heavy Crash (or 19" Paiste Rude Thin Crash)
22" Paiste 2002 Rock Bell Ride

19" AAX X-Plosion Fast Crash
20" AAX Aero Crash
21" AA Bash Ride

I use them for everything paired with 15" AAX Medium hats.
Replying to my own reply for photos.

My ride and 2 crashes being used in a metal context live. We play a blend of thrash, death, and black metal plus some hardcore and beatdown/slam thrown in.

Haven't found I needed more. I haven't gigged with a china in a few years, which would be the only extra cymbal I would add if needed 😀

Bass player's wife snapped this:

And a semi-pro's photo from the same gig because I like it. She didn't get any full kit pics though 😞

21" Zildjian A Sweet Ride
14:" Zildjian A New Beats Hats

18" Zildjian A Med Thin Crash

18" Meinl Classic Crash ( Brighter than the A so gives a different color)

will be switching it out for 19 A med thin crash " when i have the $300, lol

I’m all for it. The only reason I went mostly Sabian is because of used prices being consistently lower. But unless you have a deal, which I’ll never get, I don’t see any reason to stick with only one brand.
Agree! i have Meinl, Zildjian and Wuhan on one of my Kits. I love Wuhan as a cheap decent sounding Cymbal. Meinl Custom classics are pretty good for less than Zild A or 2002's

Now I have these Sabians:

21" AAX Thin Ride
17" AAX Studio Crash
16" AAX Thin Crash
14" AAX Medium Hats

How is that 20" GB working for you? Do you tame that it at all?

I've really wanted to use mine as a ride but it just washes out too much. That, and I prefer the bell on my actual ride cymbals. The 20" GB is an amazing crash though.
I've mentioned before that my Big Beats (similar to the Giant Beats if I'm not too much mistaken) make great, subtle crashes, but are NOT rides, because of exactly what you pointed out above.

I own enough Paiste cymbals to have a nice amount of permutations, but lately enjoying a 1-inch difference between the two crashes.

Bigger setup:
24" Giant Beat Ride
Or...
22" 2002 Ride
20" Giant Beat
19" 2002 Crash
15" 2002 SE Hats

Smaller setup:
20" 505 Ride
18" Giant Beat
17" 2002 Crash
Same Hats as above
Or...
14" 505 Heavy Hats

Good Times.

My 22" Big Beat has been my go-to ride lately.

It's very crashable while still maintaining some stick definition under the wash. I use it in a blues band. In a loud rock gig, I could see where it would lose some definition though.

My favorite crash is my 19” 2002 on my bigger setup. Just awesome

Home:
20" Istanbul Agop Sultan Jazz Ride
16 & 18" IA Sultan Crashes
12" IA Sultan Splash
18" Meinl Byzance China
14" IA Sultan Hats

Church gig:
20" Zildjian A Custom Ride
16" A Custom Crash
16" Zildjian Fast Crash
8" Stagg Splash (with a crack)
20" Stagg China (uber trashy)
14" HH... Zildjian A Quick Beats

All Zildjian
21 A Sweet Ride
18 A Med Thin crash
16 A Med Thin crash

Also a Wuhan 18 Koi conical dark china, that thing is ridiculous. I may need a more tame/traditional china....
14" new beats.
I really want a Zildjian 20" A thin crash
And want to try some Istanbul Agop/Xist stuff because whenever I hear them in recordings, they sound just so good.
