Why would someone want a metal snare that sounds woody? Isn't that what wood snares are for?

It's like wine, there are always ways to describe things that are hard to describe - like notes of blackberry and cherry.
I have played metal snare drums that sounded a bit more woody than metallic. I think one was a Ludwig Bronze?
