I like the I5 for the snare because it can take a stick strike way better than a 57.
The less mics the better is my philosophy. I like the mics away from my toms so I don't have to muffle. It creates a nice atmosphere, in addition to a round resolved drum tone IMO. 1 or 2 overheads, kick, snare, done. Less is more.
