Have you ever cried during a live performance?

I've come close to crying at gigs, but it's usually along the lines of, "all the time, money, and effort I've put into drumming and I still sound like this?" It especially happens when I listen to recording of myself. I really have cried listening to recordings of myself.

I cried the first time I saw Coltrane play live, at a place called the Birdhouse in Chicago. He was introducing a new song for him: "My Favorite Things." Trane's 20 minute solo was amazing, and McCoy Tyner's solo AND comping made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

The next time I cried was 20 years later when I saw Tyner play live at Shelly's Manne Hole in Hollywood with his trio and he did a very old song for him: "My Favorite Things." Woman I was with thought I was insane.

Fucking amazing what those two guys could do, together and apart, to what otherwise is, to me, just another "Broadway Song Nothing To Hear Move On Move On."

I dont care who you are- this is a beautiful performance and the setting.....

Superbowl during the gulf war. I am crying as I type sort of.

As great as Whitney is, and she really is something, Jordin always seems to open the gates for me too, I'm such a loser...
I remember when this first aired, when the football announcer came back on, I was all wet, and this guy said NOT ONE WORD about that stirring version of the song. What an unfeeling twit.
