Zildjian is "Bringing Back" something on April 9, 2024

if anyone asks I think this is one of those
Aram Bucharest/Romania/Constantinople/ Blew off his head in an oven fire A. Zildjians with the rivets
Gretsch 1950 catalog advertised as early as 1948 this looks like 1953 or 4

I think it's identical to the catalog so I'm right
that's cadillac green 13/14 probably 20

let's see Zildjian bring that one back the "Aram
rivet double-row"

This is very much bucking the trend of the last decade for darker thinner cymbals. I do think there is place for bright and thicker cymbals. I still use Zildjian A custom projection crashes or Paiste Twenty when playing heavy guitar music, they sound great. it’s good to have choice across the spectrum. Hopefully you can buy a Z custom bottom hat and make. 2024 set of K/Z hats.
Is there a difference between the A Dyno Beat and the Z Dyno Beat except the logo?
My point is that the K/Z sound never really went away.

I just bought a pair of new K/Z's 13" hats and they sound pretty far away from the K/Z's I played in the early 90's. Sheesh, I'll sell you mine if you want. They dont sound bad at all, they just sound really pedestrian compared to the originals, which were crispy and tight.

The original "Z Series" Dyno Beat bottom from the Weckl days had the hexagon- or octagon-shaped marks.

There was some kind of rebranding and Z became Z Custom, if I remember.

I gotta be honest. I still have my 90's Z Custom Mega-Bell Ride before it became the Z3 line, and I love it.
I wish I had kept my Dyno-Beat Hats. I've owned a few pair over the years and sadly sold them all off. Kinda regret it if only to pull them out on sessions once and a while.

These new ones are supposed to be a little lighter and less clangy.
Just seen the DCP vid and they sound as clangy and awful as I remember. They even compared them to good ol' rudes and the rudes are still way better.

Rude hats are way more versatile than folk give them credit for

They really aren't quite my sound, but I do appreciate that their return must mean that the pendulum is swinging back from the thindirtydrywashy trend that has overtaken the market for the last 10 years or so.
I sure to god hope it isn't!

The originals that you refer to were meant to be reversible, thus they were only marked "Dyno Beat Hi Hat" and not Top or Bottom. One had star hammering one had hex hammering. The ones that came with standard with the K/Z Combo hats were the hex pattern.

They posted several sound samples for the Z series on the Zildjian channel today.
Those 19" and 20" crashes might sound good as lighter rides. Hard to tell with the person in the video just bashing on them. Why is it that most cymbal companies demonstrate their product videos by playing the featured cymbal at a volume level that ranges from FF to FFFFF. Retailers, such as DCP, Memphis Drum Shop or Sweetwater are usually much better with dynamics.

And why are most drummer's cymbal crash hand unseperably connected to their foot on the bass drum pedal. Always crashing the cymbal and hitting the bass drum at the same time. Scheese............

Whaaaa??? But it sounds weird when you crash without a bass or snare hit.
