Okay I'll ask, what happened to your rug? Did you forget it? Did someone take it?

Left it at the rehearsal space by mistake. Returned following week expecting to find it, but it had been stored somewhere for safe keeping. Got it back eventually.

Car mats were mentioned.. that's my go-to solution. Except I use the trunk mat/carpet from my old Volvo XC-70.. not only does it save the interior from getting scuffed up and work as a perfect drum carpet.. it's tough as nails, has a tough backing on it that grips the floor but still allows you to slide the whole kit around if needed.. also prevents spikes from drilling into the floor. and the best thing is - you never forget it because it's always in your car!

Personally I only use mahogany or bubinga furniture in that situation

Pet peeve of mine. There should always be a rug in the drum space of all venues. I hate hauling them around and it's needed for every kit.

Well is that really a good idea if the alternative would be a young woman appearing out of nowhere willing to keep things in place, mix that idea with fat wet kisses and all, I would rather forget the rug each time...

It wasn't that the cymbal stand was slipping. It was that I was smacking the china cymbal so hard that it was rocking the stand...
