I used to watch that show all the time.. and always thought the theme song sounded like Vinnie Coliauta on drums.. or some studio guy that copped his style. At one point I Googled it like 20 years ago but came up empty.
So I tried again tonight after watching a blistering VC solo.. mystery solved!

Incredibly sloppy 'daytime tv theme' musicianship from the band in general.

Hm.. the sound quality on that clip is not good. On The teevee it had a really crisp sound and the finesse on the hats and tom sounds made me think it was VC. This clip is closer to the original and faster..
