Drumhead boundaries ?

Hi i have a joey jordison snare . I want to ask , how can i understand the heads tension boundaries.I just got ambassador batter,bottom head i tightened very i think , cause drum sounds choked a little. I followed drum bible rules btw.
 
Easiest way to choke a snare drum is by having the snare wires too tight.
And yes you can tighten the snare side head too tight.
