Difference in Snare wires

I am trying to find more information on the differences in snare wires (types of material, difference in length, tightening, etc), yet am having a hard time finding them online (finding plenty of snare drums though). Could anyone offer help? I'm trying to get my snare to have more popping attack (Chad Sexton style) and while I know his snare is a 20ply OCDP, I'm wondering what tightening/looseing or changing the snare wire would offer.

Hey man... try to google some of the companies I'm gonna list below. They all produce snare wires of a very high quality and have sound descriptions.

- Puresound Wire
- Fat Cat Wires
- Canopus

My best suggestion to achieve that super cranked "Snappy" sound Chad sexton had on the old 311 recordings would probably be the Puresound 'Blaster' series, they're specifically meant for higher tunings and tighter tensions
