HELP! Can anyone tell me how (in plain English. Not the confusing language that Alesis uses in their owners manual) to do the following with my Alesis D4:

1.) Get my hi-hat pedal to work
2.) Assign the triggers )eg: trigger 2/snare, trigger 3/small tom, etc)
3.) Assign and save sounds
4.) Eliminate cross talk between triggers

I just got this thing and I am pulling my hair out trying to get it set up. The manual reads like an operating manual for the friggen space shuttle.

Thanks!

  • You want to plug you hi hat pedal into the HH Controller. This is a 1/4" jack on the back of the module.
  • Triggers should already be assigned.
  • There should be a store or save function button on the face. Press voice after hitting the desired trigger. Use the arrow keys to go to the number of the group (snare, for instance). Make you changes with the pin wheel then press drumset. Then press store.
  • There should be a crosstalk parameter on the edit function. The should be accessible by pressing external trigger button.

I hope that this puts you in the right direction; it has been a while since I have used one of these!
