What's your latest purchase?

We have a set of about 40 songs, both covers and originals. There is a cowbell in at least a dozen of them (either on the record or in my head šŸ˜‡). I'll try my best not to overdo it, and the Ridge Rider is supposed to be on the mellower side anyway.

I have wanted both this ride (paiste twenty full ride) and some paiste dark crisp hats for my collection, these two came up for sale for pretty cheap.

The hats are 13ā€ paiste sig mediums, close enough to the Dark crisp hats I was after, I might try and trade them for 14ā€™s in future, the ride is a gem, I donā€™t think Iā€™m gonna be selling it.

Needed a second crash cymbal. Been a long time searching for the right one, but I finally found and purchased a used Zildjian A 18 inch medium thin crash. It sounds great with my other used Zildjian As. (Those aren't flea bites, but light stick marks from the previous owner). So grateful to have this cymbal!

These LP clamp mount doodads.

I'm still not sure this is what will work for me but didn't like my splashes spread all over the kit. Having a 6" splash mounted on a floor stand just looked silly.

I wanted to avoid "The Gavin" but the more I thought about how I use splashes I thought I'd give this setup a shot.

I was looking for a great sounding kit that was portable and looked good . I commissioned Seppo Salminen of TRS Custom Drums to make my idea a reality .
A nesting kit was what I wanted and I wanted it made with certain shells and sizes . I also decided for durability sake I would go with a wrap .
We settled on a 20/12/15 configuration . A railmount for the rack Tom and as also in the works too . The shells are maple with an inner ply of African mahogany in a vertical grain orientation .
I picked up the kit 5:30 pm and took it to a gig that night .The TRS Custom Drums shop is 5 minutes from my house . My band mates loved the sound and appearance . IMG_0636.jpegIMG_0637.jpegIMG_0639.jpeg

I owned a 70s non etched 6.5x14...didnt get on with it. I've played dozens at GC..same results. My favorite recorded snare sounds have come from black beautys. What gives?..tell us if you truly 100% undoubtedly like your new beauty. Help me understand.

It's a good thing you're allowed to not like it then. :ROFLMAO:
I have a thread in the cymbal area called 'Cymbal Blasphemy', about cymbals that almost everyone likes, but that I didn't.
I'd imagine it's the same with snare drums, or sets, or whatever.

Anyways, I like this one enough that it will be with me till I'm dead and gone.
Sorry - I can't help you understand.

freaking brilliant!!! That is definitely an investment!!!

Opened my wallet for that Black Beauty, and when I got it, I knew that I would also be wanting a Supra in the future and figured now's the time.
Got 15% off the price, and it came with a decent bag. I'll be doing a review of both of these, because they gave me a few surprises.
Ludwig Supraphonic LM402 chrome over aluminum 14x6.5 for anyone who might not know.
