Stool height and double pedal positions

First, I've been playing forever and never had any sort of back problems, etc from the way I sit. Back in the day, playing 4 to 5 hour gigs 6 nights a week, I found that if I really wasn't "feeling it" on a given night, I could lower my throne about an inch and suddenly feel like I was really digging in. It probably was psychological, but it did work.
When I changed to my current set up, with a dozen toms ABOVE the cymbal rack, I knew I had to learn to sit up higher, just for an easier flow to reach everything. Also, as stated earlier, I occassionally use as many as 9 pedals (I have since cut it down to 5) and a higher seat allows for smoother quick movements in changing pedals or double pedaling with a single foot.
Would I play with the same height if I was on a 4 piece? No way. Play what is comfortable for the set you are on.
