PLAY ALONG SONGS (best favourite)

Re: fun songs to play

moby is an interesting choice. i will definately check that out. my second song is "song for the dead" by queens of the stone age. this shows off grohl as a drummer more than any other song i know. it's really good heavy rock stuff, with a great intro.

Re: fun songs to play

Houses Of the Holy!

I've never had more fun than when I drum to that album [excluding No Quarter].

Re: fun songs to play

When I would like to challenge myself, I usually end up with anything by The Who, other than that - when I feel low, I always pop the "Back in black" live album by AC/DC and drum away to "long way to the top" - which I live the lyrics to, and "Back in black"...

Other than that, I usually just play along with what's in the CD-player since my wife used it...

Re: fun songs to play

Balltongue-Korn
Chi-Korn
Sober-Tool, actually any tool song is fun and challenging to play

That's one of my favourite Led Zeppelin tunes! But admittedly not a drummers track.

For good solid fun I'd recommend almost anything by Cream and Jimi Hendrix.

brilliant drum parts in this song. I think it makes a great lesson for composing drum parts in a song...

That is an excellent, excellent song. I couldn't believe my ears when I first heard that song. That's Bruford...some of the stuff he came up with...

I meant Houses Of the Holy, the album.

You know:

The Song Remains the Same
The Rain Song
Over the Hills and Far Away
The Crunge [do it!]
Dancing Days
D'yer Mak'er
No Quarter
The Ocean

The song "Houses of the Holy" is cool too.

But the versions of The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, and No Quarter off
The Song Remains the Same album are killer!

I was referring specifically to No Quarter the song. It's one of my fav. Zepp tunes, but not really a drummers' one...

Re: fun songs to play

"Disco Inferno" is always a favorite of mine to play.

Re: fun songs to play

Currently, the band I'm in (THOSE GUYS) here's some of the songs I enjoy playing:

Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
Mr. Brightside and Somebody Told Me by The Killers
War Pigs by Black Sabbath
Santeria by Sublime
Fly by Sugar Ray
Down With Disease by Phish
Beverly Hills by Weezer
Fool In The Rain by Led Zeppelin
Miss You by the Rolling Stones
Aeroplane by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

To me, they're just fun to play...I have rehearsal tonight and we're learning:

All These Things That I've Done by the Killers
Holiday & American Idiot by Green Day

I'm learning them right now...LOL...practice is in two hours!

Re: fun songs to play

Here's a few that no one's mentioned that I love playing with:

Most of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I especially dig Funky Monks.

Radiohead - High and Dry (not sure why, but its a great mellow song to play to)

Black Crowes- Hard to Handle

Rusted Root - Cat Turned Blue -

Soul Coughing - Circles

Re: fun songs to play

Run to the hill - Iron Maiden
it's Raining man - Gloria Gaynor :)
the wicker man - Maiden

You have to hear the 35 minute versions from 1977. They're excruciatingly boring.

Re: fun songs to play

Hi, I'm glad you chose this thread because I love to play "Ants Marching" by the Dave Matthews band. I love to Immulate every one of Carter's chops on that song. Everytime I see a new concert I get more and more excited because I know I'm going to learn every chop and swing he does and immulate it on my drumset.

Re: fun songs to play

i don't really ever just play a song, i like to play an entire album.

i think these are a lot of fun:

tool, enema
led zeppelin, physical graffitti
pearl jam, ten ( the first album i learned the whole way through)
s.t.p., core
sound garden, down on the upside
bob marley, bustin out of trenchtown ( reagae is real fun and good for independance)

Re: fun songs to play

Separate - Sevendust

No Quarter, When the Leevee Breaks, Kashmir, Black Dog, Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin :p

Lust for Life - Iggy Pop

Sex and Religion, Freak Show Excess - Steve Vai

Lateralus, Sober - Tool

Sic, The Blister Exists, Before I Forget - Slipknot

Most blues tunes, almost all of Bob Marley, and a LOT of nu-metal and classic rock. And yes, I do like both genres.

Re: fun songs to play

"Love Stinks" by The J Geils Band
"Centerfold" by The J Geils Band
" Brown Sugar" The Stones

Songs more harder but fun for me to play:
"Fly By Night" by Rush
"Red Barchetta" Rush
"Frankenstein" by The Edgar Winter Group.
