My favorite sticks

I just bought some Pro Mark Japanese Oak 2B Nylons over at the local shop. I have to say that they are my favorite sticks to date. The size fits me perfectly; They're just amazing!

I use Pro-Mark Mike Portney sticks. Nice comfortable weight and size. I also use Vater brushes.

I use Pro-Mark 717 Rick Lathams for general playing, I use my friends Peter Erkines every once in a while for jazz, and Vater XD-5Bs for live playing. All wood tips of course.

I've been a fan of Vater 5b's for a while but my drum teacher just gave me a pair of Vic Firth 5b's and I think I have a new favorite.

Buddy Rich Signature sticks by Vic Firth.....they're a little longer than a lot of others, fairly heavy and have are honed to a strange wooden tip.....I like them a lot

Vic Firth
Sticks:
55A (between the 5A and 5B)
AS5A (5A with a full round tip)

Brushes: Jazz

I like them to. They are heavy but amazingly very balanced and responsive.

Just bought a pair of Pro-Mark Millenium 2 7A's - have to say very nice, will be getting another pair very soon

I agree. First time I saw them I told the guy that the tip was off and he gave me a discount on them!! He didn't know anything about drums.

I just switched brands from Vic Firth to Pro Mark. I really like the PM's a lot. They just seem to hold up better than the VF's.

I remember someone was asking if anyone used Vater Pro Rock. Actually I would have but just that the sticks seem too thin for me.

I used to use Zildjian, then Vic Firth, and now very happy with my Vater Los Angeles 5A sticks. Well balanced, and really durable. I tend to hit very hard. I might try Vater Universal or Vater Excel soon though. Found my favourite brand, but not yet my favourite stick. I kinda like small, but not too thin sticks. For the fast and hard stuff, ya know?

99% of the time I use Promark 747 Natural sticks w/ Nylon tip. Its what works for me and they last forever for me. Sometimes I will also use Dave Weckl signature sticks.

Wow that was exactly me until just recently. Although my main sticks are still the 747's, im branching out to heavier and lighter sticks. But the pro marks are just such perfect sticks. Amazing for rock and funk, also they play just fine for jazz considering the size of them. Extremely versitile.

I like Vic Firth X5A or 5a for the loud and heavy work, and Vic Firth SD10 (maple) for jazz and funk.

Has anyone ever noticed this:

I recently compared Vater Fusion's to Vic Firths AS5A (5a w/a round tip) and although the Vater is a bigger stick (thick) ...the Vater is much lighter. Has anyone ever noticed this when comparing Vaters to VFs ? It seems that VFs are a heavier feel...or is it just me?

Anyhow...someone brought this up a while back, but....I received a certificate for a couple free pairs of sticks via Guitar Center...so I grabbed their SoundPercussion 5As ...and WOW....LIGHT.......durable, w/a great feel!

Does anyone know who makes those?!?
