Need help with the intro to Ted Nugent's Hey Baby

you can count it in 4/4 or 6/8

start counting on the 3rd guitar note you hear....that is the "1"

da da DA do ....which is also where the snare starts

in 4/4 it would be 8 measures of 8th note trips on the snare ....ending on the 1 of the 8th measure

if you wanted to count it in 6/8 you would just play 16th notes to the 8th note......12 per measure ...ending on the 1 of the 8th measure

since the rest of the tune is in 4/4 I recommend just using 4/4 since thats the way I believe it was intended to be heard

Ted just created a slight illusion with the rhythm of the riff

I have been subbing recently for a band that plays this tune and we had some problems getting it together, too.

Gvd's summary is spot-on. The trick is getting your bandmates on the same page. I had a suggestion for how we should count it in in 12/8 but they didn't want to have anything to do with it, so we went a different route.

Yup

Count in 1.2.3.4 da da 1 2 3 4.... 2 2 3 4.... 3 2 3 4.... 4 2 3 4.... 5 2 3 4.... 6 2 3 4.... 7 2 3 4

Guitar=da. Snare starts on 1 and goes for 7 measures
