Default Remo Emperor vs. Emperor "Batter" - are they different?

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 1980s vintage Yamaha Recording Custom kit (standard depths - Cherry Wood). Most of the heads on it are in pretty good condition and I also replaced a couple of them from my own head collection. I have Remo clear Emperors on top and clear Ambassadors on the bottom.

I've noticed that some of the Emperors are marked "Batter" and some are not. Are they the same as each other or are they in fact, different? The same question for the Ambassadors - some are marked "Batter" and some not. I've tried searching for the answer but cannot find anything definitive.

Thanks! Barry

Same thing.

I don't recall when, but Remo did change the label on the heads at some point.
