Quick question on Gary Chaffees "Sticking Patterns"

Might seem like a stupid question but can anyone tell me, under the sticking patterns, what do the letters 'U and D' mean?

I'm guessing F would stand for foot, and T for tom, but those I can't figure out as I never have come across them in stickings.

D = Double?

That was a massive guess, I have no idea.

I think it's up and down, referring to a upstroke or a downstroke.

Ohhh, so the T would be a tap, which would make the F a...?

'F' would be a full stroke.
