Old Guy inBattle of the Bands

One of the bands I play with has all guys 20 something years younger than me. The singer entered us in a Battle of the Bands during the Laughlin Nevada River Run. It's a big deal here in Laughlin if the Mongols and Angels play nice LOL.
Anyway, I always think of B of Bands as stuff for young kids but this one is at The Aquarius Casino Amphitheatre and pays the winner ten grand(500 and free rooms just for participating) so it might be cool.
I've been playing the local bar circuit here for years with no butterflies ect. I'm kind of nervous about this. Trying to nail 4 songs perfect in front of a couple of thousand people and not be the one to cost us thousands of bucks is a bit daunting for my mediocre old ass.
Oh well, I refuse to let it ruin my good time. At least I bet I play those 4 songs better next time we play Lazy Harry's.
If there are any Bikers on the forum that will make the Laughlin Run come root us on and say hi. The band is called "Substance".We might be the only legal substance floating around that weekend. David

i was in Laughlin a few times on business. in fact, the last time i was there in 2006 i played the penny slots and won enough money to buy my Pro M kit!!!! no complaints here. :)

made more money in Laughlin than i ever made in Vegas on the slots! i made $310 one day and $250 the next which paid for the majority of my kit since i got it directly from Mapex.

It's a little more laid back here than Vegas. I have lived across the river in Bullhead City for about ten years and love it. Just stay in the AC for June, July and Aug.

Hell, don't worry about winning, you have no control of that. Put together 4 songs that really bounce, and just entertain. A paid BotB gig is rare in my experience, you should plan a nice night out while you're there and have a good time. Something to consider: casinos hire a lot of live music, I think that may be where the big pay out is. Play your thing well and professionally, and you may land a series of gigs there.
