Since I'm always arguing with you guys I never get to make my own pointless thread. Besides, we need to lighten the mood a little 'cuz you guys are Sofa King grumpy!

First, some rules:
1) You only get one.
2) That's right, just one!
3) Reasons are welcome, but not required.

Big Empty by Stone Temple Pilots. I think all the parts match perfectly. There's not a single piece of the entire five+ minutes of that song I would change.

Banks of the Deep End - Gov't Mule

favorite right now

"I Got You Babe"

Sonny and Cher. It's got everything. Joy, peristance in the face of hardship, resolution.

Hey Bro,

You have to be more specific-
Song to LISTEN TO, song to PLAY, song to set a mood.... what!?!?!?!

To listen to- Freebird by Skynyrd
To play (on drums, and do vox) Hot For Teacher by Van Halen
To play (on harmonica) Whammer Jammer by J. Geils
To set a mood- Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top

Cheers,
C. P.

Impossible question, James!

I think Steely Dan's Babylon Sisters is pretty well the complete package - great lyrics, great playing, great groove, a wide range of rich timbres, beautiful production.

But Joni Mitchell's live version of Goodbye Pork Pie Hat with Jaco is also the complete package, and Michael Brecker's solo is to die for.

The Beatles, A Day in the Life is another complete package.

But Floyd's Great Gig in the Sky is the cheek tingles champ.

But Trane's Alabama has the most incredible moods.

But King Crimson's Epitaph has the most gorgeous vocals and sound.

And The Doors's The End totally knocks me out.

Jimi's Foxy Lady is the coolest rock and roll I've ever heard. Or was that The Who's I Can See for Miles?

Impossible!

From the first time I heard it when I was just a wee lad...

Stairway to Heaven

If whatever god you believe in were to appear before you right now and tell you that he/she was going to eradicate the memory of every other song in history except one, what would it be?

Impossible question, James! ... [several songs listed] ... Impossible!
You're fired!!! Fired!!!

It probably changes over time, but right now I'd have to say Tangled Up in Blue...both the Dylan version and the Jerry Garcia Band version.
