Cymbal hold down nut

I havn't played for 25 years but I have a new set of Sonor's coming and last week took my first lesson since 1959.

True dat!!!.... I'm 69 yrs old and back behind the drums... whodathunkit?

I'm using Sonor stands and they have 6mm threads. I want a quick on/off cymbal hold down nut. Sonor makes a cymbal clamp but I can't find any of them anywhere except in Europe and the websites don't acknowledge my attempts to buy from them.

Any ideas where I can get a quick on/off cymbal nut that will work on a 6mm thread?

Thanks, JimS

Search for Camber T-tops on the web. I have them in both 6mm and 8mm. Unfortunately, the 6mm are rather hard to come by.

I use 8 mm Slicknuts, now sold by Vater. I think they do make a 6mm model. Those have worked well for me.

Congrats on getting into drumming at 69! Music is often something people do well into their life and your initiative inspires me.

Thanks for the encouragement!!

I looked all over the internet for Vater 6mm's and was told repeatedly that Vater was bought out and no longer makes the 6mm quick release nuts.

Just as I was about to give up I went to Guitar Center and they had a new quick release that will be in stock on 5/29 but there was no mention of whether it came in 6mm.

I called the Davenport Iowa Guitar Center store. The drum specialist on duty took my information and after checking with his distrbution center he called me back with the good news that Vater will make the 6mm Quick Relase nuts on special order!

He's going to check with his store manager on Tuesday and get back to me regarding the price, minimum order, etc. When I get more news I'll pass it on and in the meantime thanks for your attempts to help.

The Camber T is "ok" but can't be tightened down. I do like my cymbals tightened some.

I play jazz and don't necessairly want all the vibrations available in the cymbal. I like to be able to control the sound a little by tightening or loosening the nut and felt.

Cool! You can get results with digging. You will be very happy with your Slicknuts. I have them on all my cymbals and I only use Slicknuts.

I'm just hoping that I can get them and at a reasonable price. There's no hurry... the drums won't be here for a few more weeks AND we still have to build the room for them. :)

I'm enclosing a screen porch off the back of the house and will have a 10 x 15 ft heated and ac'd drum room with a seperate outside door. COOL!

The avatar is a photo of the Ascent Sonor's in natural finish. I have a 6 pc set on order... 18" bass, 2 mounted and 2 floor toms.

Thank you!

I just got an email from The Guitar Center sales manager who offered to work with me today to special order the 6mm Vater's. Their service, so far, has been exemplary.
