I used to play for Bo Diddley in 2005 and the funny thing is, is that the "Bo Diddley" beat wasn't really on Bo's versions; the shaker played the clave part. It was on George Thorohgood's versions. U2's Desire (which can kind of be seen on the Rattle and Hum movie) has been mentioned. Try listening and imitating Thorogood's "Who Do You Love?" as it is what guitar players are used to hearing.
