Ghost notes or what?

Yep, they're ghost notes. Light hits on the snare between the 8ths on the hats. Like you're playing 16ths but one hand on hats one on the snare

thanks
and can u suggest any dvds which can teach ghost notes properly
and any dvd which teaches similar stuff on the hi hat like for shuffle songs?

learn Full, Down, Tap, Up

Full and Down will be your accents and Tap and Up will be your grace notes

that will set your dynamic level for the ghosts

a good exercise is to play 16ths on your hands between the hat and snare ....putting a kick on the 1 and 3 and accent on E of 2 and 4 .....only changing the volume and velocity of your left hand (assuming your left is on the snare)....keeping your right hand consistent .....keep all left hand 16th taps except the E of 2 and 4 make down strokes

then learn the closing groove to "funky drummer" :)

I kid I kid ....but that is a great groove to sure up your grace notes

You don't need a video- in any book of rock beats there should be at least a few pages with busier snare drum parts; just play the SD hits on 2 and 4 at regular volume, and all the rest of them very softly. That's all there is to it.
