Some questions about terms

Hi, everyone from Drummerworld
I'm so lucky for you guys having this website, so many great stuff. But in my homeland - China, because of the language gap, hardly no good book and dvd can find in the market, even the videos from web, people still don't understand.

So and and I'd like to translate some instructional videos for drummers but some term I can't be exactly sure about, so if anybody explain to me, I think my translation will make more sense and understandable for Chinese drummers, I really appreciate that.

So here's my questions:

1.In the Bernard shuffle video, what does he mean by splain?

2.When drummers describe the sound, what is the "low end" and "low bottom"?

1. Splain - This is a slang form of the word explain.

2. "low end" and "low bottom" - refer to the low frequencies of drums, usually the kick drum and floor toms.

What an interesting thread. I'd never thought of the implications of being a drummer in China.

If you need any more 'splaining, please let us know.

Happy drumming and thanks for manufacturing all our stuff over there.
