Sometimes one can have the tendency to work on material that is pressing the boundary of their playing and that promote growth and advancement. As a beginner trying to improve my mechanical skills, I tend to do too much of that and it can lead to a narrow set of playing skills. So, to kinda throw a coffee bean in the mix and freshen the routine, I have identified a set of songs that just allow me to play...and improvise fills. Still some form of growth and advancement, but of a more relaxed and less focused nature; more fun if you will.
Maybe some you will also enjoy this kind of "work"; here are the tunes I use for this purpose:
01. Moondance, Van Morrison
02. Statesboro Blues, Taj Mahal
03. Jackie Blue, Ozark Mountain Daredevils
04. RIde Captain Ride, Blues Image
05. Misunderstanding, Genesis
06. I Love You More Than Yesterday, Spiral Starecase
07. Sweet Home Alabama, Skynyrd
08. Say You Love Me, Fleetwood Mac'
09. Lodi, CCR
10. Breakdown, Alan Parsons
I love the kick drum - bass interplay on the Fleetwood Mac
Thanks
