Electronic music and creativity

Hey

When I ‘hit a brick wall’ in terms of creativity or finding ways to improve my playing skills, I find I now listen to electronic music – be it industrial, trance or techno or whatever you please – to help me overcome these creative blocks. I find electronic music helps me with limb interdependence, as some of the beats employed in such music were not meant to be played by an actual drummer, so I’m forced to think outside the box a bit. I also find that the inherent simplicity of some electronic beats can help reconnect me with the basics of drumming.

I was wondering what other people’s views were on overcoming ‘drummers block’ were and whether anyone else listens to electronic music in the same way to help them get over the hump?

I appreciate any feedback you may have.
