I'll kick off with Alvin Lee with Ten Years After. Notwithstanding the Hall of Fame performance at Woodstock in 1969 (TYA is NOT in the Hall of Fame - or should I say Hall of Shame), the following is a sample of their abilities with Alvin Lee in the centerfold. Alvin has to be in the Top 5 Of All Time Greats. Note, There are no Smoke Machines, No Flashing Light Shows, no Broadway productions, no Arena BS. Just performing Rock and Roll with a "smokin" Gibson !

Guthrie Govan

Guthrie Govan - Regret #9 - Guitar Solo - YouTube

Does not hurt that he is accompanied by some amazing musicians.

This only scratches the surface...his theory side is hulk-esque.

I'm not sure if i am staying in the 'rock and roll' lane?
The man is a MONSTER!

Apparently, according to Jess Cope (who did the amazing animations for some of the songs on Steven Wilson's "The Raven That Refused To Sing"), his one-take solo on "Drive Home" was so beautiful that the onlookers were in tears...

Jess' sense of visual rhythm is astounding!

I think the most revolutionary and indispensable was young Eddie VH.

It would take me all afternoon to try and come up with a GOAT, having to consider technical ability, creative genius, etc.

Alvin Lee was just plain BAD. So many goats. When hearing him at Woodstock it was similar to hearing Eruption for the first time driving my Moms galaxy around town thinking what in thee hell was that!. I'm gonna sit back and see if anyone mentions my goat choices.

Alex Lifeson, of course.

My reason?...the pre-outro solo on 'Between The Wheels' off of Grace Under Pressure.(the outro is a solo as well...but I am referring to the double time solo toward the end)

Oh yeah how could I forget my favorite band’s guitarist! EVH and Lerxt are my favorites

There is rock music before XXXX, and there is rock music after XXXX.

There are not many who can be placed into the XXXX position.

I’m sure someone from the 50s (before my time), then there is Hendrix and there is EVH.

Roy Buchanan (the Messiah Will Come again..) 72
