BOH/Hideki Aoyama (BabyMetal)
Jason Newstead/Lars Ulrich.......
Michael Anthony/Alex Van Halen
Adam Jones/Danny Carey

I can go on an on but I'm at work.. so

Don't know if they've been mentioned yet, but
James Dewar and Bill Lordan...always liked that combo.

Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins, or Charlie Haden and Jack Dejohnette.

Mingus + Dannie Richmond is probably the greatest thing that ever happened with a bass player and drummer-- they're like one instrument.

Also Elvin Jones and Ron Carter-- I'm not even sure how many records they're on together, but:

Great pick of Elvin with Ron Carter (and the others as well)! It's wonderful to hear Carter's precise playing alongside Elvin's looser concept.

And Carter just has a giant presence-- whatever they have together is really powerful. It's weird, I don't know why Coltrane's stuff doesn't register as being especially about Elvin + Jimmy Garrison. Obviously they're one of the greatest rhythm sections that ever lived. Maybe Garrison feels more like a vibe on those records.

Also good: Miroslav and Jack Dejohnette

I can’t believe this one hasn’t been mentioned yet.

Garibaldi/Prestia

Most everyone has been mentioned that would come to mind, but a few not mentioned that have inspired me are:

Doug Keyser/Rick Colaluca
Joe DiBiase/Steve Zimmerman
Lars Norberg/Asgeir Mickelson
Thomas Miller or Michael Lepond/Jason Rullo
Joe Lester/Danny Walker or Alex Rudinger

yep... one of the first duo's that I followed/emulated as a teen...early Fates is legendary!!
