Gretsch G2622 Semi-Hollow Guitar
I was looking at that! Handsome guitar and I don't have a Gretsch OR a semi-hollow electric (OR a ton of money).

I wish they didn't have that UGLY tort pick-guard but I think I can make one at work!

I found this site that has PDF outline files of most standard pickguards.
Don't know much about file conversion or whatever, but with patience they can be traced/routed out.

We had some crazy fires in my area just over a year ago. After pulling all of my gear out at once to document it for a possible insurance claim, I decided to downsize my collection considerably. Most of that happened this year. Some highlights;

1965 Ludwig Hollywood (12/13/16/22)
1968 Ludwig Super Classic (13/16/22)
1980s Tama Superstar (15/18/22)

Several snares, including my 1920s Slingerland and Ludwig snares.

About 40 cymbals (trimming the herd down to about half)

…however, I *did* finally manage to buy a K Constantinople 22” Medium Thin Low ride, which I’ve been looking for for quite a while.

And another gong.

Went back and looked again....and again...My birthday! Yeah...my birthday is coming up and I could get me THAT!
Lord knows SHE's not gonna!
I like the phantom grey one and/or the gun metal! I have a fox tail that matches those PERFECTLY!

I don't remember.

Who's with me on this?

.

In 2018 I started writing down each drum gear purchase in a book.

I write down the date of purchase and the purchase price.

I sold a lovely old Slingerland duco snare, and a Paiste cymbal. That's just the beginning of a ten-year plan to liquidate the bulk of my gear.

Incoming was limited to a set of Neusonics for the upcoming tour. But unlike other years, no cymbals, no pedals, no snares. :(

I've already sold off the extra gear, so the past year was basically upgrading/completing my two kits.

Highlights:

Tama Dynasync single pedal
Tama First Chair throne
Tama Roadpro snare stand
Tama Simon Phillips Signature snare drum
Had a used Spaun tom wrapped to match the rest of my kit.

Also some new practice pads:

Prologix Thunderkick
Meinl Stick & Brush Pad

Prob too much too list.

Bought and then sold:
Pearl music city custom solid maple
A&F brass
A&F blue Chandler
Ludwig Supra
Ludwig black Beauty
Tama dyna sync pedal and hi hat stand
Sonor perfect balance
Sonor AQX
Ludwig Classic Oak 4 piece
5mm Bronze Snare I built
A whole lot more

Bought and kept:
Sonor SQ1 kit
Sonor AQ2 kit
Pearl session studio
Benny Greb 2.0 Brass
Paiste Masters crash/ride
Paiste Dark Energy MKI
Dw MCD single
Audix D6
Avantone Pro Sublick
FocusRite OctoPre dynamic
Mac mini M1 16gb for recording

Probably more.

But I’m not done moving gear. I’m likely going to sell my Sonor SQ1 6 piece kit soon

I created an Excel workbook for this very purpose. My penmanship is terrible.

The Pearl STS replaces the SQ1?

Possibly. But not because I love the pearl Kit a ton more or anything.

1. I have room for 2 kits and my mini kit (the AQ2) is staying no matter what.

2. I’m not sure that I’m in love with an all birch shell. I’d trade both the pearl kits & SQ1 for a Sonor vintage kit or a prolite kit In the sizes I want.

3. Value… I spent a crap ton of money on the SQ1 roughly 4.5x times the cost. Selling the SQ1 gives me more money back and still having a great kit.

4. The biggest reason…. Tom sizes. The SQ1i have toms in 8,10,12,16,18….. but I really want a 14” floor Tom. But that’s an 800 dollar expense and a 14 month wait to get it. That’s frustrating.

So selling the SQ1 allows me to have a great budget friendly kit in sizes I like and have cash in hand to start saving towards a Sonor kit I really want.
