Yamah Oak Customs Gen1 Vs. GEN2

Anybody know the differences between the gold first versions of Yamahas Oak Customs Vs the second gen Silver Badge Oaks? Specifically the shell differences and specs? I can't find much online as this info seems to have disappeared over the years.

Great question.

For instance, in the first-gen release, you still had raw shells, almost unfinished. these were called Matte.

You also had the rare 13x14, 15x14, and 16x14 (diameter x depth) floor tom sizes.

All kicks were 17” deep (including the 18”).

The Oak gen 1 was made between 2002 and 2005.

The Oak gen 2 between 2005 and 2013.

I added Oak and Drum catalog's as in the regular Drum catalog there is some more detailed info about the 2nd gen.

Thank you! Are they essentially the same plies/thicknesses? Is there any reason to choose one over the other gen?
