Hi

I have the oppertunity to buy a Trick drum kit.

All aluminium construction and Bonham sizes with the exception of the bass drum, which is ........."30x"18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am undecided. Any thoughts about running a drum of this size?

Paul.

My thoughts are it's too big to be practical. Plus it just screams look at me!

I don't think it would be a big hit with the others either.

Hi Larry

I hear what you say. Practicallity aside I have no trouble with the "look at me" thing.

And as for what others think...........no, no truoble with that either. -))

Is that really long or really wide across? Different companies specify differently. Either way, it's weird. I doubt it will sound great.

I'm just wondering if it will be too much bass drum for the music you do. A 30" must be thunderous. Or maybe wondrous?

Do you have any reservations Paul? My guess is if you get it, it won't last long. But I don't know you or your musical situation at all. I can only apply my own values to it. Were you on the prowl for a big bass drum? Or is it a great deal?

Watso, the avi is still slaying me. You're just too funny man.

Definitely not for me, but if you think it is for you then buy it. But you better learn to love it cause you are going to have a VERY hard time selling it if you ever want to part ways.

Thanks for all these thoughts.

Ain't gonna get it now.

I shall stay with my miniature acrylic kit with the "24x"14 kick.

Perfect for a little light jazz!!!!!!!!!!!!-))

Have a lovely weekend

Paul.

I would have absolutely no interest in it.

But if you think it'd be cool, and you've got the money for it - sure, why not?

What changed your mind?

I would be all over that. Who else would have a 30" kick? Sounds awesome. Maybe not practical, but if you had the extra cash, why not? I would assume it wouldnt be your main kit. Do you have a picture of it?

Ask your bandmates what they think of the idea. I'd be asked to replace it lol.

Haah! I'll bet your bandmates have trouble hearing that tiny, little kick drum.

I have been curious about getting a Trick kit. Something about the idea of a non-wood drum just fascinates me. I took a lesson with a Trick artist that plays Jazz. Slightly dry drums but they sounded pretty good.

A 30" kicker would be a bit much for most places though.
