Wood or Metal

I like wood because of the warmth and tuning versatility. Yes, metal is louder, but I've been playing 27 years and I've never, ever heard anyone ask a drummer to play louder.

Keep in mind that most "wood" drums are actually made of a wood composite material: plywood. Nothing wrong with that but strictly speaking, it is not wood.
+1 I am constantly getting told to quiet down.

Brass overbearing?

Please explain.
I would, but most everyone disagrees with my opinion... and seeing as it's just an opinion, I don't really need to defend it :) Brass just has this high frequency ring that gives me a headache within seconds. Actually, recently, I went to a drum tuning clinic and they tuned up a Black Beauty.... I had a headache for nearly two days from the sound that thing made.
