I recently came across an interview with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, in it he named his "fantasy band" lineup (link below).
Who would be in your fantasy band?

Here is Flea's lineup:
Vocals - Billie Holiday
Guitar - Jimi Hendrix
Drums - Tony Allen
Bass (and sometimes trumpet) - Himself (Flea!)

Chemistry is everything, so I'm afraid I have no all-star dream band.

In a brief example where little pieces of it were tried: Phil Collins is one of my favorite drummers ever, and Ian Anderson one of my favorite singer/songwriters ever, but Phil drumming with Jethro Tull at the Prince's Trust thing in the early 80s was a largely underwhelming wipeout.

Where we might expect lightning in a bottle with these things, everybody's spark and color just kind of cancels everybody out.

(Admittedly however, Kate Bush has performed several, very charming, quite surprising pairings with several cast members from Blackadder over the years. A bit of a stretch, obviously, but it's the best I got!)

Actually, we used to have that band. Peace and goodwill.

I was dealing with the same thoughts. I realized that my first draft of "fantasy band" might not pan out to be a band that would play well together. But still a fun exercise!
It gets me thinking of certain musicians that we really wished could've shared the stage together.

Not able to draft deceased players -- even on video like Emerson, Lake and Palmer recently -- Son of Vistalite Black chooses:

Singer Mlny Parsonz of Royal Thunder -- one of rock/metal's greatest voices (who SoVB met recently).
Bass player Troy Sanders of Mastodon
Guitarist Slash
Rhythm Guitarist Kiki Wongo of Smashing Pumpkins
Drummer Jocke Wallgren of Amon AmarthIMG_2204.jpeg

I remember hearing Ella Fitzgerald describing Karen's voice as having mystery to it. I thought that was spot on. Karen was an unreal singer. And a pretty darn good drummer as well as you alluded to, CM.
I'm still In Love with Linda R!! I play her tunes regularly which I play along to. Poor, Poor Pitiful Me.... living in the past I guess.

I saw her live in the early 80s with my brother. Another great singer. She's not very big but the power she generated was incredible.👍
