Alright, well if everything goes as planned this summer i will be starting to buy some nice pro equiptment and i figured i wanted to start with something that will last basically forever. So i started looking at snare drums a few months ago and i ran into these beauties. they look like they will be very versatile.

Im pretty much just stuck on what material to get. Im trying to decide from maple, aluminum, and brass. Memphis drum shop put demos up today so ive been listening to them over and over.

I play alot of different styles, the main ones being ska, funk/jazz, rock, and alot of jojo mayer influenced grooves

They dont have the brass one up yet but they should have it up soon

Suggestions?

Oh man, I'd get the Sluminum in a second. In fact, I might. It sounds a lot like a Metalworks snare tuned low but with more brightness. Nothing overwhelming... perfect balance, in fact.

I know what I want for Christmas now! :D

Hey Moldy, how about you stop building my dream set? Its making me jealous. Ha, just kidding. Glad i could introduce you to some new toys. The aluminum also looks stunning. its almost a satin chrome type look.

if you get one make sure to send me lots of pictures.

I would lean towards the aluminum drum myself... But seeing as I own a Supra already - I might be tempted to get the Bubinga model.... I know it's not on your list - but I just love the lower fundamental tone of the Bubinga.

I'm contemplating the same thing. My local Five Star shop has them in and I believe I tried all of them. I already have a Bubinga snare, so I'm thinking about getting the brass. It has some of the best tone I've ever heard in a metal snare drum. A couple people at the shop liked the aluminum a bunch. I'm going to hit them again this Saturday. It's a very intriguing concept with the hoops.

Ive been searching around and i found a video from gear guruz. He plays all of the snares and even though the sound quality isnt very good it gives you an idea of how the drums relate to each other.

the aluminum has the most bite by far and is very cold sounding. I like the brass the most so far but i think ill save 100 dollars and go for the aluminum as its a close second and it looks much better in my opinion.

I honestly havent been able to play'em in person but im beggin my mom to drive me up to the local shop.
