Where did it go?

The thread got deleted. It was handled. Let's move on.

Understanding and discussing different views or experiences could be a part of "growing". There is a difference between someone trying to offend others and some teenage or young boy having silly ideas aboiut the world. Then why not report that one post instead of all?
Not all of us week women need a white knight...
When you have multiple posts blaming 'strong women' for the breakdown of family and the order of things, then I'm afraid the time for a reasoned discussion is over.

I'm not trying to speak for women here, I'm speaking for myself.

jeez

Not for a second did it go through my mind reading that post that I could be responsible for the breakdown of anything, because that statement was untrue in my opinion. Why would something I disagree with offend me?

It's not been handled though has it Larry? Because you're in here complaining about the posts being reported and continuing the argument when you know full well it was me that reported it. It's frankly insulting to think that your posts in this thread could have been read any other way...

Words don't bother me as much as harassment and violence towards women (etc)and then over looking in job promotion or paid less then male counterparts (etc.) I've seen a belly full of that crap and it really, really pisses me off at this date. The world isn't "fair" that's for damn sure. I think we can all be tasteless trying to be humorous at times-I'm guilty of that (I say some pretty stupid things). Sometimes these odd threads are people just reaching out for social contact going through a rough time-I've dang sure used the forum as a soundboard to keep me sane-as close as I can be LOL.

But it has been handled. The thread is gone, congratulations. You win.

No one has any right to judge me or anyone else on what I found out the hard way to be true for me. That means anybody. What would you have me do here Duncan? Run everything by you for your approval? I'm not here for your approval. This forum doesn't require your approval.

In your opinion, how could I have better handled this?

The post in question was IMO a persons observations. I saw it as an observation, not an attack.

I'm not about invalidating peoples truths, if that's how they truly feel. My personal truths included. As long as no one here is not attacking any members here, I like the free speech. Don't you? I don't like censorship. I think controversial thoughts. Sometimes I post them. It's my prerogative. Sue me. It's better to allow people their opinions than make a crusade to try and change them. Allow me my views as I allow yours. You can hate my view that's fine. However, you can't take my view away from me just like I can't take your views away from you.

Let us please move on.

I'm not asking for your approval Larry and I'm not asking for anybody to approve me or for me to approve anybody else.

What I strongly disapprove of is people making hateful remarks about women. You are a moderator and you are supposed to uphold the rules of this forum, including this:

"Do not make comments that are sexist, racist, pejorative, obscene, inflammatory, spiteful, abusive, threatening, or in any way insulting or disrespectful to any individual or group of people."

https://www.drummerworld.com/forums...-rules-please-read-this-before-posting.35129/

If you can't see how some of the remarks in that thread were disrespectful towards a group of people then I suggest that you might want to take another look at that thread. It's not about 'freedom of speech', this form doesn't have 'freedom of speech' and you, as a moderator, should know that. I have controversial thoughts too about certain topics too. We all do. It's part of human nature. If I made a post that was hateful towards a religious group, I would fully expect it to be removed. If I made a remark about somebody's sexuality, I would expect it to be removed.

What do I think you could have done better? Spotted the blatant misogyny in that thread, put up a post reminding posters of the forum rules and leave it there. Perhaps then not going into another thread and attacking somebody in veiled terms about a report they made regarding a post that was clearly in breach of the forum rules to the point where other moderators deleted the thread.

What I find most painful about this is that I know you are a kind, generous and passionate man that I have enormous affection for. I'm concerned for your well-being and your state of mind and I'm concerned that you're going down a very, very dark path.

With all due respect, you are taking this WAY too far.

Implying that someone must be sick for not agreeing with an opinion sounds like a blatantly disrespectful insult to me. As such, it’s against the rules, isn’t it?
I am not sure you are aware of the background or relationship between Mediocrefunkybeat and Uncle Larry. I don't believe the concern was because Larry disagreed with an opinion. That's for them to sort out between them, regardless, but I am confident that it was not the kind of attack you are imagining.

Dang. Am I the only one who doesn't know the thread being talked about?
I missed it too. Sounds like maybe that was a good thing.
I read the 1st few posts of that thread and saw how ridiculous the topic was. So, no, GretschedHive, you really didn't miss much. To be honest, this thread is far more interesting, and, for those who like drama, more controversial than that one was.(IMHO).
