Eight lugs or ten?
Ten. Here's a general spec page for the Archetype series. Only difference is they're using Trick throw offs instead of Dunnett R7's now. Another FYI is that while they say their shells are "ultra thin" they're actually 6.35mm in the middle and 12.7mm at the reinforcement rings which is more like a medium maple in the middle of the shell and super heavy at the re-rings.

They'll make just about anything you can dream up. Different woods/finishes. Check out the gallery page here......

I, too, always go for ten-lug snares. Eight lugs can make sense if you lean toward an open sound, but I prefer the fine-tuning advantages of ten lugs. Maybe it's my imagination, but the two extra lugs seem to offer more precision.

These are nice shells, Darth. I can see why you keep going back to Hendrix.

I just picked up one of these at a thrift store, partly to keep it away from indelicate attention, but mainly because the price was so absurdly low it would have been wrong to not buy it- in fact, when I relayed the price to my other half, I was told to get it. :)

Now this is the kind of thing that makes me stop into thrift stores from time to time. I would love a marimba and own a small xylophone instead. Used to play the marimba in HS jazz ensemble, such a cool percussive instrument. I remember playing a marimba solo to Greensleeves at the Christmas concert circa 1983. Seems like it was electric with pedals and dampeners that would open or close a spinning doohickey...but that could just be a dream..
This could be you in a couple of months :) :

Picked them up yesterday. 18x14, 12x8, 14x14. Early 70s. Walnut. Exact color match to the 24/14/16/18 I got three years ago. Just got new coated over clear Ambassadors, coated ambassador kick batter, fiberskyn front, and Ludwig Atlas spurs since the guy couldn't find both of the originals. Fine by me, I have Atlas spurs on the 24, so I'm going to make this 18 match. It's getting pretty pornographic in my garage these days...

The toms have a roundover edge, but the bass drum has the modern inward-facing 30* edge. Sounds really super good.
Phornographic indeed! Do you have any shots with both the 24/14/16/18 you got three years ago and the new find? That I imagine is a fabulous looking/sounding kit. Nice audio gear btw.

I was waiting for someone to post a VW. Not the thing I purchased, but a slick vehicle for sure.
I'm more of the beetle w an ej kinda guy ?
I've had experience with 3 volkswagons in my life:

1. My maternal grandfather owned and loved an early 60's bright red VW beetle. He bought it new, it was one of his prized possessions. I never got to drive it.

2. My sister's powder blue 69 VW beetle with a four banger air-cooled rear mounted motor. When I turned 16 in the early 80's I 'inherited' my sister's V8 69 Mustang fastback (looking back, what a spoiled brat I was), and out of the kindess of my heart, I occassionally traded back with her and drove her VW. The VW had about 90 HP I think, but with three on the floor it was kind of fun to drive for a day or two. No AC, no power brakes/locks/windows etc. - all manual, I think it maxed out at about 88 MPH obviously without the flux capacitor. I remember a couple of drum line buddies and I once using the Bug to drive across town to a percussion/drum shop and getting stranded for an extra hour or so waiting for it to cool off due to 'vapor lock'. No radiator meant if you turned off the engine while hot it wouldn't restart until it felt like it.

3. Before getting married and after selling the 69 Mustang :)cry:), I bought a cool little black 1990 VW Golf GTI. That little sucker had a 16 valve DOH cam engine and 5 speed manual transmission that would get up and go. Not muscle car/V8 fast but it was light, quick and nimble. Once blew up the engine and had to replace all 16 valves 😩, but that was due to driver overexhuberance for maxing out the RPM's before switching gears. But overall a fun, fast reliable car. Here's one exactly like the one I had:

I got a Gibraltar Quick Release hi hat clutch today and guess what? It doesn't fit my Pearl hi hat stand...
thts very odd, as i have a pearl 2000 series hi hat and my giblraltar quick release clutch has no problems fitting it. very odd that yours doesnt fit o_O

My latest purchase was some Meguiar’s plastic detailer, cleaner, and polish. I haven’t given my vistalites a good cleaning in waaaay too long. I’ll post all five of my babies in the Ludwig thread when I’m done.View attachment 110159
if those Vistalites are you babies, that makes them my grand drums😁😁😁

I picked up a matched pair of RØDE M5s to use as overheads. And with them, I think I am "done". Which means I am going to stop buying things, and have run out of made-up excuses for not practicing every day. 🤦‍♂️
