The Paiste cleaned up pretty nice with just a once-over with Barkeeper's Friend. Unfortunatly, removing all the funk makes it now sound like an 8" splash! Kidding. It sounds the same to me. I'll take some proper polish to it when I have more time.
Bye bye, logos......for now. I have a feeling we'll be meeting again soon.

Thanks. It's amazing just how easy it is with Barkeeper's Friend. I was worried that the really dark spots left behind after I washed the green patina off of them wouldn't come up, but they did. The back wasn't bad at all. Just a few spots of tape residue, which I removed with alcohol. So I just gave it a quick once over with BKF and was able to keep the logo, or what was left of it, anyway.
I'll still get some polish on it to really bring out the shine eventually.

This is making me want to clean off the grime on my crash and splash cymbals...
Nicely done.

Pawn shopping as I was in the downtown neighborhood yesterday.
Got this early mid 70s Pearl D4514 CoS with knurled center and the beautiful diamond style lugs for $29.
Everything works well, has the lever throw (ala Gretsch round badge snares), one thing that is cool is the butt end has a tension knob for tightening.

So, this is the color without the polish? Because it's already super shiny!!?? What adding more polishing?

Pre-orders count as a purchase, right? My addiction to expanding my kit has led me to wanting a side snare - I must be subconsciously trying to build Tony Royster Jr.'s kit configuration from when he played Caravan on Letterman:

Something about this one hit all the marks for me, so I pulled the trigger.

Just added some 1990 Dark Blue Tama Granstar II 12", 13" toms, 16" floor tom, and a 22" kick with factory mount to add to my 8", 10", 11", 14", 15" toms and double 22 virgin kicks.

Once I add a couple 24"s and an 18" floor tom, my shell bank for this kit will be complete.

*Set up for a quick photo. The blue ensemble was a happy coincidence.

My 16" Renown floor tom arrived today. It took five months to get here which isn't unusual given the circumstances. Haven't played it yet but if it's anything like its 14" brother, it's gonna sound awesome!

Dude congrats!!
Finally!

How about a thread to celebrate and marvel at our newest purchases? I know I'll enjoy seeing yours.

Here's mine:

A mixed box of toys. Evans g2 over g1 coated for my yamaha kit, tight screws and trick quick release cymbal toppers.

A quick release hi hat drop clutch, some rods, some brushes, emperors for my saturn kit, and a 20" emad which could go on either of my 20'' kicks. Also a dw cowbell mount.

I'm so happy.

You must post pictures wherever possible.

Non drum related things are encouraged.
You know this...

If you wanna get high, take one of the heads off and take a big sniff of that silver sealer! I almost passed out when I changed a head on a new add on Brooklyn tom I got fresh from the factory. ?

Ha! Forewarned is forearmed ? I imagine the fumes are pretty potent when these drums are new.

splashed out on some electronic goodies, two Rt-30K kick triggers (one en-route) and three RT-30HR snare/tom triggers (one of which is in the kick trigger box alongside the kick trigger)

next on the list is a decent drum module, as right now im running them from a late 80s/early 90s simmons trixer module which, while sounding great, is starting to show its age and is crackling and missing bits.

seen this tm-2 module going cheap on ebay, so put a cheeky offer in and it was accepted, comes with the mount and official power supply as well, and its a lot cheaper than the tm-6 pro that i was looking at! happy days! :D
