So, you'd put like a half dozen or a dozen cotton balls inside the tom?, More/less?
I won't be recording any time soon, but I am getting overtones I would like to limit.

Basically take a tree and cut it into smaller rectangular pieces ?I was wanting to look into making some wood blocks.
That cymbal, on your left above the first tom...Is it as close to the tom as it looks? Thanks! Yes I keep moving the cymbals lower and closer to the the drums. It’s really groovy and rolls with cymbals / fills are much more accessible this way

That depends on how close it looks...But it’s as close as possible without being necessarily dangerous. Haha. Cheap 10” splash, just something else to hit occasionally. That cymbal, on your left above the first tom...Is it as close to the tom as it looks?
Just, from the first two pics it looked like it was right above the top...like when you hit it, it would hit the rim of the tom...then I looked at the other angle. That depends on how close it looks...But it’s as close as possible without being necessarily dangerous. why do you ask?

Seems like with basic shop tools you could make wood blocks pretty inexpensivelyI was wanting to look into making some wood blocks.
Cool! Only place I know of that'll do "layaway" is Sweetwater. I use the three-payment option on larger purchases. AND they even checked my credit rating?!?!? and still let me.Put this on layaway; will pick it up in a few weeks.
Need to look into tone woods or something...what would sound best, then maybe "tuning".Seems like with basic shop tools you could make wood blocks pretty inexpensively
Yeah, a chunk of pine 2x4 isn’t going to sound as bright as some of the denser woods. It would be fun to experiment with different woods to see what kind of sounds they produce. Maybe you could build a set of several different blocks.Need to look into tone woods or something...what would sound best, then maybe "tuning".
