What's your latest purchase?

14 inch Artisan hihats from Sabian. I think they work great for jazz. They seem low volume and fit the dynamics of jazz real well. Very forgiving and easy to fit in with whatever the others are doing. And they look kool too. Picked them up at Guitar Center for $260+tax.

I purchased a set of memory locks for the floor tom legs of my sonor vintage kit. Still unbelievable that those are not included since Sonor is considered to be a major brand that claims to be rather exclusive. Well, same with other brands I guess?

Mundane stuff... an EMAD Heavyweight bass drum batter and another UV1 snare head for the Guru (the last one got played to DEATH you might imagine!)

Picked up the Questlove breakbeat kit for $339 yesterday. 16" bass drum, 10" tom, 13" floor tom lol, 14" snare. Picked it up yesterday before a gig and just love it! Little blue sparkle, cute. Surprised by the lil bass drum, sounds great.

I owned a Manu Katche Yamaha hip gig or whatever they were called, maybe that was a 15" bass drum, anyway I find this set much more to my liking.

A guy in a band who opened for me recently (don't remember their name off hand or I'd plug them here) played one of those breakbeats kits in a prog rock setting. In a small room and on recording they sound amazing but I wasn't expecting much from them in this large 2 story open room. I was very wrong, they had plenty of volume and punch. Very impressive for what they are. Only negative I noticed was his bass drum was creeping quite a bit. That 13" floor tom sounds like a wide open 16" when mic'ed properly.

Decided to correct a mistake I made a long time ago. I swapped a 21 " Paiste Dark Energy Mk2 ride and I have missed it ever since. I have owned a couple 20" Paiste DE MK2 and a 22" Paiste DE Mk2 but none of them had the magic the 21" size has. I was able to pick up a 21" DE Mk2 ride from Reverb for a decent price.

Picked up Hercules hardware locally for a good price to complete my octoplus config.
I’m not sure those legs (or tom clip arms for that matter) are correct on booms - but they work just fine though may use one to swap with cymbal arm instead.
I tried the coke tin foil/warm water/dry method to clean which took little over a couple of hours, removing every component. It did substantial cleaning and I can confirm it works on grimy/light rusting places, took off a lot of duct tape with goo gone as well then polished with good ol’ flitz.
First pic is before and second is after, the cymbal arm has lead or something filled inside tubing, my guess is some sort of homemade counter weight...
As you can see the one boom arm on right is pretty bad and could not be fixed
as it’s chipping - I will have to do some further research.

Beauty !! One thing I don't like about the hella die cast hoops is that I like to put a snare stand arm just to the left of the throwoff and you can't with that open area. I have them on my Phonic reissue D515 PA beech snare. Yeah, I can move it over. It just bugs me though. Still, that is a bad mofo of a snare drum! Enjoy!

Just picked up these vintage shells and restored them. I'm sure many have seen them online, and I'm sure some have not. They turned out really nice, and sound great!20190619_220901.jpgScreenshot_20190622-164906_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20190622-165028_Gallery.jpg

How are they? I’ve been curious about these..,

They are B12's, and to me, they sound a lot like Paiste 2002's. I really like them! They are warmer than the Classics Customs I had been playing.

The

website only says cast alloy. Do we know what the alloy is??

I read somewhere they are B12's. I really like their sound. My only gripe is the selection is kind of limited. Other than the cymbals I bought, they only have 14" hats, a 20" ride, 10" splash and an 18" china available in the pure alloy line.

Sweetwater says they’re B12 too.

I like shopping, you know. I prefer to buy different kinds of tech gadgets. Few days ago I bought new Ipad Mic Stand Mount after reading one review https://whatever-tech.com/best-ipad-mic-stand-mount-review/ I choose The ChargerCity MT CLMT5+SW15+HLD5 which has stood out for the functionality and the design. It is constructed from durable alloy aluminum and this makes it much more durable than some of the others.
