What's your latest purchase?

I hadn't bought anything drum-related for many years, but a couple of weeks ago I went and bought a set of felt/cotton muffling rings for experimenting with those super-dead 70s sounds. They sound a bit silly compared to the open tunings I usually go for, but I love 'em nevertheless! Popping them on is a quick way of completely transforming the sound of the drums.

Arrived a few weeks ago and was only able to pick it up yesterday, well my wife did as I can’t lift the damn thing. It’s heavy, crazy and absolutely glorious.

Welcome home 14x5 True Cast.

3 Yamaha crosstown cymbal stands $49 each used at G.C. I paid for them but I can’t take them home till a week from Tuesday. I guess in Kansas there is a 14 day hold on used music equipment before it can be sold. Something about a stolen search or something. Anyway I've been thinking about buying some of these and boom there they were. They wanted $99 for the hi hat stand. I'm not really sold on it with no tension adjustment or swivel legs. But I think I'll like the cymbal stands.

I just can't help myself...

Picked up this very tidy Premier Artist Birch (Fusion sizes) yesterday for not much money. Perfect for gigs where I wouldn't want to take my British Drum Company Legend kit.

Of course, Her Ladyship is unimpressed by my continued profligacy, & is currently considering my punishment....

Finally wrapped up my large, multi-player gear trade with my local shop. The last two goodies arrived today. 14” 602 Medium Hats and a 5x14 brass DW True Sonic snare drum. The hats took 6 months to get here! o_O 🤯

I wasn’t looking for another jam block/wood block but a dude on marketplace offered me this in addition to a bargain cowbell I bought from him. Very impressed, I think it’s better than my LP red jam block, really full tone, I suppose I’d better not hit it too hard but it has a rubbery bouncy suspension mount that seems to reduce the shock. I think it’s the large sized Ash woodblock.

I've had a DrumKat, KicKat and HatKat with a Yamaha RY30 drum machine for sounds for decades but never an actual e kit. I finagled a Yamaha DTX8 with the folding light weight compact rack and a DTX10 ProX drum module. I never had a direct drive pedal either so I threw that in the mix. Everything is so smooth and easy to play I feel like I'm cheating.

Thanks for sharing. Yet another signature snare winner from TAMA.
Focus the sound with that top die cast hoop. Control the extra overtones and rings with the paint.
The hoops are special Starphonic style flanged hoops with a straight top edge. Stick Chopper style. Quick release. Very cool.

Thanks for the correction. From a distance they looked like the standard die cast hoops. I checked again and I think TAMA calls those hoops "Grooved Straight Hoop". Very nice overall design, looks, and paint color. Excellent sound.
