And last but not least, you know the Yamaha Recording custom Brass that is coming, 14x6.5, got it new at a great price at my usual store, as Scott was also selling his Summit Purpleheart, even if I have one in the making, the price was too good to pass so, I bought it as well. All 3 will be here within the next 2 weeks, I will take real pictures of the trio when they will be here. Mine is supposed to be with brass hardware but I had hesitated a lot with Black hardware too, so, no need to choose now.
Ok, That's not it, the rest will be post when the balance on them will have been paid. Ok, you have seen these photos, from Scotter540 when he posted them for the sale on DFO:
Just ordered two Yamaha WS-904A tom stands and a Tama Sizzle Touch Drop Clutch.
Will use the toms stands actually for cymbals haha. Mounting boom arms on them reduces the amount of stands i need from 5 to 2. Since i need to setup every rehearsal these are a lifesaver since with memory locks everything is in (almost) the exact position.
Got the drop clutch since i do a lot of double bass work and dislike the Stagg one i have.
I have only one A Custom, just because I couldn't focus on too much brands and with Sabian here in Canada being "cheap" and available everywhere, plus Meinl and Paiste, it' s already tough to choose cymbals. But I have the A Custom 25Th Anniversary 23" ride and love it, soo smooth...If I have to start a collection of Zildjian, I think i will start the way you did, they are great and beautiful, congrats.
Yes they are great!!! and i like them because i love "bright" cymbals. Here in Italy Ufip, Meinl and Zildjian are easy to find and i live near one of the biggest drum shop in Italy and they are Meinl and Zildjian dealer but in my country Paiste cymbals are hard to try!!!
I bought my first SPL recently, Tama SLP Maple with outer ply of Zebrawood, 14X7" great projection and the hardware is the same as their high end model, I can't believe it!
It's a great medium-range snare and the hardware is the same as "Star" snare, i replace the strainer with a Puresound, stock hoops with a Tama Die-cast zinc hoop and heads with a Remo Ambassador and now the snare is a beast!!!
I asked a few weeks ago, if I should have a Steel snare...I have my answer, yes, big yes and Ayotte being in canada, well, could really be my option, thanks for showing it to us!
I have to admit, I didn't like the 6,5 model. Could be the size, could be it had the original triple-flanged hoops, but this beast right here goes nowhere anymore.
Glad I could help!

You mean strainer, wires right? You kept the Tama Strainer...Si, you think the Remo Ambassador is better than the Evans? I Have ambassador on almost all my other snares...Did you swap the resonant head as well for a Remo?

I started with Sabian, with a Mix of HHX and AAX and had a lot of Meinl as well, but realized I had a bit too much dark one so, my next purchases are more Paiste oriented...Even is in canada they are not cheap...Signature 18" is my next, love the shimmer...That I still have on the Dark Energy ride...

I have it on my Dyna Sync Hihat because I have another remote hat, the P:earl RH2050...So, I needed a drop clutch for the Tama and this one is awesome...You can really dial in the space between the top and bottom when the clutch is down, so, you select the sound you like.

Yeah that's what i like about it! Not using my own kit at the moment and with that i used a x-hat with a 13" hh for when i needed a closed hi-hat sound. But i just miss the closed hh sound when playing double bass.
But even with the c-hat it was a pain sometimes to dial in the space between the two cymbals. The Stagg drop clutch only provides a tight closed sound and for that reason i don't use it; i like give in it to get a decent amount of slosh without sacrificing articulation.

You will love it, I have a 3rd hat, on a Gibraltar X-hat, you can still dial in the space but it,s colse only, I have the Sabian Click hats on it. The Tama get the Meinl Sand hat 14" Benny Greb model and the Pearl RH get the Meinl Foundry reserve 14"...I would love to find a 13" but think I will opt for a Paiste Signature Dark Cris hat for it. My issue is I have a hard time to not have all of it on the drum kit so, I might end up with another X-hat or remote hat!!!
You can alter the order of the 'rings', right? I remember someone on the PDF mention that i does affect the sound.
Believe it's a rare signature model as well because he switched to DW not long after releasing this snare.

Well, great buy this one. This is the kind fo snare i would never able to pick up, I didn't know about it, never heard, didn't have the story and history about Chad Smith and the snares he used, etc...Great for you, I'm happy for you for sure.

Ok, so, I just received today the AVA Snare Cast Aluminium. First impression, it's still lighter than my Benny Greb Brass. Also, the Anodizing is awesome, no flaw, whooo! great.
And then the ping, so pure, so long, 2 seconds of pure joy for ears. I never had a Trick Throw off but with the 3 position, it's super easy to change the sound and felling of the snare. The most surprising was the touch, first time for me for Emperor on batter head (Ambassador clear snare side), so, first time with a 2 ply head, seemed stiff at first but with the resonance, no wonder why he put Die Cast and Emperor but it's a great choice to balance the shell volume and the snare volume.
I will take picture of it with my wife's cell tonight and post them here.
