I'm not surprised by Pearl's restrictive policy on the President logo. It's an anniversary series that will likely be a limited edition, so I doubt Pearl wants the vintage logo to be mass distributed for placement on non-President kits. But yes, their customer service is first-rate. I've always had great experiences with the Nashville headquarters. Both general reps and sales specialists have been wonderfully helpful over the years. That's a contributing factor to my unwavering passion for Pearl.
Yes, lots of great folks here. Welcome to the forum, and enjoy those new cymbals! As I'm new to this forum and glad I found it for I see it has cool peeps that give good advice and whatnot.. Anyway I was playing mainly a sabian AAX freq set for sometime now, along with some zildjains and a few low budget splashes, I recently treated myself for the holidays to the meinl fam and I couldn't be happier. For switching back and forth from zildjains to sabians throughout the years I believe I found a sound/brand that I'm truly happy with.
Ever since I tried them heads, it's hard to use something else.. Great heads that are warm, durable and punchy.on the right, my latest purchase. a fesh aquarian coated focus-x swith power dot, my original order from a drum shop still hasnt been fulfilled even though i had a due date of 22nd december due to lack of supplier action ("not many people use aquarian in the UK so they dont ship them here often" is what i was told), so i found one on amazon, ordered it on the 23rd, and it arrived today, all the way from bavaria/germany.
on the left is the one it replaced, i found that head as some NOS from a shop that was closing down, and its been serving me well until recently when i felt it was time to replace it xD

Man that is the bomb! Like riding to the prom in a limousine all the time.Picked up this Tama Glide ride throne from Reverb and it arrived today . It is a Nitro style throne , super stable and very comfortable . I had been using a Roc N Soc for the last twenty years . Decided to try something else and the Tama fit the bill . I learned years ago not to scrimp on drum thrones . View attachment 111774

Pictures or it never happenedMy latest purchase was an 8 X 14 Ludwig Black Beauty. I have one other metal snare, an early 1980's Supraphonic. It's a great sounding snare. I've used it more than any snare that I've ever had. Even when I bought a new kit, if it came with a snare I usually didn't use it much. The Supra just had such a great sound. Mainly sounds great with upper mid level or higher tuning. I started looking for an 8 X 14 snare because I wanted to get a really deep 1970's sounding snare that has a thud you can almost feel. I like lower tuning and lots of snare spread. I haven't been disappointed.
Pictures?I made a swap for a Noble and Cooley 14 x 6” Copper snare drum . I am very interested to receive this and put it through its paces . The YouTube videos sound universally good .
Perfect - Even came with the literature and pillow!Man, I’ll be honest, when I scored this deal for damn near a 1000 off retail from a reputable Dealer, I expected the “Open Box” tag to mean lightly used, as in returned. But looks to me that maybe the kick drum box was opened but the drum never removed and then returned. Every other box was sealed from the factory. All drums were wrapped in original bubble wrap and there are zero stick marks. This is a brand new kit for cheaper than a pearl Export.
