What's the story behind your user name?

My dad used to jokingly call us The Farkle Family. At the county fair, a guy at a wood engraving booth (if you’re old you remember those) made him a sign that read “The Farkles”. That hung over our front door for years.

I thought he made up the name but just now I googled it and found out it was a skit on Laugh-In. Thank you DW forum!

Because I'm just someguy and quite possibly not actually real but a construct of the collective overactive imagination of the forum users. You all conjured me into existence and now you're stuck with me.
Suckers.

And apparently... you're just the first one!

Long time ago someone gifted me a folding knife made by Chris Reeve from South Africa. The model was called Sebenza and when I looked it up a couple of years later, the name came from the Zulu word for 'work' , a tribute to what the knife was intended to be...a no-nonsense work knife.
The name and it's meaning stuck with me and I've been using it as a nick ever since.

The profile pic is a self portrait by Jean-Pierre Coopman , a Belgian boxer who fought Ali in 1976. He only started boxing at the age of 25 but despite the odds, managed to climb the ladder and fight the goat. He became a painter after his career, hence the self portrait. Just an inspiring story of one of my countrymen.

When my oldest kid was a toddler, she couldn’t pronounce words that begin with the “sp” sound, so "spoon" became "foon" and so on. For some reason, her pronunciation of "sparkle" stayed in our family's lexicon, so that even today, when she's 26, if any of us need to describe something that twinkles and flashes with light, we say it "farkles" or is "farkly." (And, yes, we're very careful with the pronunciation.) I picture you as a magical unicorn, is what I'm saying.

That's awesome. I hope I never let you down. 🦄🦄🦄

TK-421 is just the name the Empire assigned to me. TK means I'm a standard stormtrooper, not an imperial guard or TIE fighter pilot or anything like that. And 421 just means I was the 421st to get my TK designation. #lifeofastormtrooper

Just curious, everyone has a story...

Mine? I chose it because I wanted something that would not easily identify me and my online persona. My son had a very unique user name that he used across multiple sites and different areas of activity. When he was growing up I used that and Google to keep a watch on his online activity.

Square is generic enough that you would need a bit more information to find my trail.

Of course, I explained this all to my son and daughter when they became of age.

So what's your story?

7H4 is the Southwest Airlines customer designation from Boeing for their 373-700 fleet (i.e. 737-7H4)
I may or may not have worked for SWA from 2001 to 2011.
B.U.D. might be my initials. Possibly not in order.

It was the name of my store when I was in france, a surf Shop:
