What Would YOU Add to This Snare Hoard?

Nice collection sir........you might need a Rodgers "Satellite" to complete it.

Real simple question here. If you had these snare drums, what, if anything would you add to this collection? Would you sell some? Buy others?

Drums are as follows:
  • 7 x 14 Noble & Cooley SS Maple Classic
  • 6.5x14 Craviotto Cherry
  • 5.5 x 14 Slingerland Artist (Niles Badge)
  • 4 x 14 Canopus “The Maple”

  • 6.5x14 British Drum Company “Talisman” Spun Steel
  • 5.5 x 14 Yamaha Recording Custom Aluminum
  • 5 x 14 Ludwig COB Pioneer (1930s)

Right now there's one not pictured: a Gretsch Brooklyn 4160, which I actually prefer to the USA one because the 302s make it sound richer.
Ludwig Copperphonic and Tama 50th anniversary Bell Brass! If you happen to have 5k laying around.

Consider one of INDe's wood or metal infinity snare bed drums.

Seems like you need a 13" or a 12". I understand 14s are the norm and may be what you are used to but with the above assorted shells and depths all in 14" diameter, the only worthwhile thing I could see adding is a smaller diameter. You've got absolutely all other bases covered.

I’ll respond with a different question. What can’t be done with the snares you already have? You can get 1000 different opinions on various drums. Is there a particular sound or genre that needs a specialized drum?

Note that I didn't ask what I should do-- I asked what you would do. I wanted to see what people would do when they imagine having a relatively small but diverse snare collection. Would they want fewer? More? And why?

As for me, at some point this stack will probably shrink, tbh. But I have to agree that unless I get that Slingerland fixed up I really don't have any classic vintage wood sounds.

I think I could do every gig I play with just about any of the drums I currently have-- certainly the N&C, Craviotto, BDC, Yamaha, and Canopus could do them all. But the drums all make me play and sound a little different, so I like having options. I'll never be one of those guys with 15 or more snares, but I'm not sure where this will go.

I would add a Ludwig LM402. There's just something so perfect about that model. Often imitated, never duplicated.

""It's too late" to acquire (ok, steal) a vintage wood say WFL 8L let alone 6 lug; 6.5 either they've all been had (bought, already in others hands) Or they are topping out near the $1K range..
That's why I may have said a few years back "why ya all obsessing over new drums, Grab the vintage while you can@"

the window is shutting near closed
New you can buy tomorrow
Vintage: they come go and then they're gone,
