What Is The Definitive Preference Between DW 5000, Pearl Eliminator or Tama Iron Cobra?

For me it would be…

1. DW5000 (by far)
2. Iron Cobra
3. Eliminator

And that’s the problem, ask 10 different people and you’ll get 10 different answers. It comes down to what works best for you. But the bottom line is that they are all excellent pedals.
This!!

I'm a DW5000 guy myself. Been playing those for well over 15 years in the single & double varieties & have had 0 issues. Went to them after stomping on some Pearl 902's for about the same amount of time. All were good & now I have what I love.

I have an Iron Cobra on my Cocktail Jam-Mini set. Smooth & easy and is in the upstroke configuration.

So TBH, all 2 have been under my feet at some point & all 3 did what they needed to do without issues. So it really boils down to what feels good to you.

I've played them all...not (gigged) but played. It may have to do with how your current muscle development adapts to either of them but for me the flexiglide cobra was instant. You don't need to kiss 50 women to know that number 2 was THE one..search over. They are ALL nice but between those three?..youll know RIGHT away which one is going home with you.

Wish they still made them

I like the DW pedal the best.

I've tried a couple of iron cobras, and I just don't like them; however, I like the matching tama hi-hat stand. I think the iron cobra is just about the only piece of hardware I don't like. Everything else is great. Sort of like I really love everything DW does, but I'm least impressed with the drums themselves (toms and kicks). However, I really like their snares, stands, etc., and IMO they are the most innovative company out there always pushing the envelope.

Depends on the drive. If we're talking strap drive which is my go to its:
*DW5000 (Perfect, put a big Danmar felt beater on)
*Eliminator (4 way beater gets big brownie points!)
*Iron cobra (flimsy beaters)

For the electric kit I'm using a 1981 DW5000 with an Eliminator 4 way beater

1.eliminator
2. Iron cobra
3. 5000

1. 5000
2. Eliminator
3. Iron Cobra

I do like Eliminators but my 5000’s are the only pedals I see myself ever owning.

1. 5000 (So good I don't have the inclination to bother trying anything else.)
2. Eliminator (on a lesson kit I play)

Never played the Iron Cobra.

1. Cobra
2. Eliminator
3. 5000
But in all fairness I have very little 5000 usage. I like the other 2 quite a bit, with IC being my favorite.

Iron cobra by a long shot. That said, I can comfortably play an eliminator or a 5000. I do NOT like the standard round cam on the 5000 but I can play it. I exclusively played Tama pedals for over fifteen years before trying a few dw, they felt very sluggish at the end of the stroke compared to Tama. Eliminators are fine but they have the changeable cans so they are almost their own separate thing.
